There are weddings that make your heart swell, and then there are weddings like Patrick and Kayla’s wedding at The Clearing. Tender, intimate, and overflowing with love in every glance, touch, and word spoken. Their ceremony at The Clearing was quite possibly one of the most heartfelt experiences I’ve ever had the honour of photographing.
It was my first time shooting at this stunning forest venue, and I’m officially obsessed. Towering trees framed the ceremony space with soft golden light filtering through the branches. It felt like the forest itself was celebrating alongside them. I truly hope it’s not my last time there, because The Clearing has a kind of magic that’s impossible to forget.
Patrick and Kayla share a love built on deep respect and quiet understanding. Every moment between them was filled with gentleness, a hand squeeze, a knowing smile, a shared laugh. During the ceremony, Patrick turned to address Kayla’s children, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. It was such a powerful, emotional moment that perfectly reflected the heart of their union: two families becoming one.
Kayla’s Scottish roots wove beautifully through the day. Kayla’s dad wore a traditional kilt, and Celtic touches could be found throughout the details, from the decor to the symbolic elements included in the ceremony. The reception tables were a dream: handwritten poems, soft candlelight, and even tarot cards that added a touch of mysticism and meaning.
Every song choice fit seamlessly into the flow of the day, creating a soundtrack that felt like it had been written just for them. The entire experience was pure magic. Soulful, intentional, and unforgettable.
Patrick and Kayla, thank you for inviting me into your story. Your love is something truly special, and photographing your day was a gift I won’t soon forget. Congratulations to you both. It’s a pleasure to know you and an honour to document your love.
